Olive tree flowers : a litterary and poetic anthology

“No tree in the world,without doubt, arouses more feelings of admiration, devotion, fervour and love than the olive tree.
The king tree is both a symbol and a synonym of a great number of benefits, as well as of spiritual forces that resonate to the very depths of the human soul. With the olive tree, with its miraculous fruit, with the golden liquor that is its oil, we are fully in the realm of the sacred. The poets know this and have been saying it since the beginning of time. From all the countries of the Mediterranean, their voices have never ceased to rise, to celebrate the virtues of these “true riches” and to call on the men who claim them to live together in harmony and peace. This anthology brings together the names of a large number of them: poets, songwriters, novelists, essayists, famous or unknown, men and women from all eras, all origins, all cultures, authors of texts of all registers, of all colours, and also anonymous peddlers of proverbs, sayings and other axioms of popular wisdom. In total, around one hundred and forty extracts from poetic and literary works are published here – some of them composed especially for us – with a brief presentation of each of their authors. The ensemble is completed by a large number of brief quotations. André Suarès said that the olive tree is “the tree of ineffable clarity”; “it does not filter light, it makes it”.
