Intensification of irrigated table olive tree. Density and variety trial: techno-economic approach.

(IN FRENCH) Trials carried out on a 5-hectare plot planted in 1988 at Borj El Amri in the lower Medjerda valley enabled three varieties of table olive (Manzanille, Picholine and Meski) to be tested over 8 years at four planting densities. The results show that Manzanille and Picholine come into production earlier than Meski. They also show that the optimum planting density is 416 vines/ha for Manzanille and 277 vines/ha for Picholine and Meski. The discounted and cumulative cash flow at year eight is 2049 D/ha, 2463 D/ha and -233 D/ha respectively for the three varieties. At these densities, the capital invested is recovered in year 8 for Manzanille and between years 6 and 7 for Picholine.
