The recently renovated emblem building of Methoni, “Syngrou,” a culturally significant space of exceptional aesthetic appeal and a major initiative to showcase the cultural heritage of Methoni and the wider region of the Municipality of Pylos-Nestoras.
As part of the opening celebrations, the photography exhibition “Betrayed Prometheus” by internationally renowned photographer Oscar Pipkin opens its doors. This is a visual exploration of fire as a force of both creation and destruction, aimed at raising awareness about wildfires in the Mediterranean.
The exhibition is an initiative of the “Routes of the Olive Tree” OTR Foundation, which is responsible for coordination and overall organization. The A49 Art Space (Kalamata) has artistic curation of the exhibition.
The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Pylos-Nestoras, the Municipality of Selva (Mallorca, Spain), and the Joan Miró Cultural Foundation of Spain.
The opening ceremonies will be addressed by representatives of local government and organizations, as well as the exhibition’s contributors: Mr. Joan Rotger, Mayor of Selva (Mallorca, Spain), Mr. Joan Rotger, the Director of the Joan Miró Cultural Foundation (Spain), Mr. Alejandro Ysasi and photographer Mr. Oscar Pipkin.
Audiovisual material will also be screened by the “Friends of Methoni Castle” Association and the “ Nostalgic Methoni,” and attendees will be treated to local delicacies and beverages provided by the Mesochori Cultural Association, EVONYMON – AGROS Farm, and the Th. Dereskos Winery.
