The Cultural Foundation “Routes of the Olive Tree” had the pleasure to welcome and host in Kalamata one of the most dynamic members of the Olive Tree Routes Network, the Mayor of Selva, Mr. Joan Rotger.
Mr. Rotger was accompanied by a team of 5 of his collaborators who came to the region to participate in the International Conference of Development & Economy (ICDE), held at the University of Peloponnese.
Among them were Oscar Pipkin, head of Centro Unesco de Mallorca and Mr. Tomeu Deya, member of the ICOMOS E.U., also members of the Routes of the Olive Tree.
During their stay they met the Mayor of Kalamata Mr. Thanasis Vassilopoulos and participated in an educational visit to points of interest in the area by the partner and member of the Routes of the Olive Tree PALMI KINSEP.
On the occasion of their visit, a workshop was held at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation ‘Routes of the Olive Tree’ in Kalamata, in order to discuss issues of common interest. The cooperation between the three organisations has already been going on for five years and aims to carry out joint research and development projects in the field of the exploitation of the cultural heritage of the olive tree and the joint organisation of relevant activities of a Mediterranean cooperative nature.
Through this cooperation, Selva Municipality, Centro UNESCO de Mallorca and the ‘Routes of the Olive Tree’ seek to promote dialogue and cultural and economic exchange between the two regions, strengthening the development of local communities through cultural activities.
