The 11th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival, an outstanding initiative that has consistently supported and showcased Greek and international creativity for over a decade, will begin on November 21 in Kalamata and 15 other cities in the Peloponnese: Patras, Tripoli, Argos, Amaliada, Sparta, Nafplio, Xylokastro, Gytheio, Leonidio, Filiatra, Akrata, Stymphalia, Monemvasia, Dimitsana, and Poretsou Monastery.
The Festival provides a platform for Greek and foreign documentary filmmakers to present their work to local audiences, highlighting the voices and messages they convey through their art, illuminating aspects of contemporary society, while also showcasing modern cinematic trends and proposals to the audience. It includes screenings, discussions with the creators, and workshops aimed at exchanging experiences and know-how among participants and fostering dialogue with the audience. This multifaceted approach enhances creative interaction and strengthens the public’s engagement with contemporary filmmaking.
As part of its support for Greek creativity, the Festival will award the Best Greek Film Award to a work distinguished by its narrative excellence and technical quality. This category highlights the dynamic voices of Greek documentary filmmakers and the stories that illuminate aspects of contemporary society, history, and culture. The challenging task of evaluating Greek documentaries will be undertaken by a three-member jury consisting of acclaimed professionals with international experience in various fields of cinema.
