OTRart Residency in Kalamata, Greece

On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, Kalamata came alive with color, music, and creativity! 🎨🎶

As part of the European project OTRart – Overview Through Rubbish & Art, a unique artistic intervention took place at the Central Market, focusing on the reckless use of plastics. Artists KABRIT (Lebanon) and SKITSOFRENIS (Greece) collaborated, transforming discarded plastic objects into thought-provoking art that raised awareness about environmental issues.

The event was accompanied by live music from Surf in Black, the student band of Kalamata’s Music School, adding energy and rhythm to the heart of the city.

This activity was part of the City of Kalamata’s program for World Tourism Day 2025, themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”.

The OTRart project, co-funded by Creative Europe and coordinated by the Cultural Organization “Routes of the Olive Tree”, continues its journey: the intervention created in Kalamata will be showcased at an international exhibition in Avignon, France, and promoted worldwide through a digital campaign.

A unique experience that brought together art, environment, and community – proving that what seems “useless” can find new life and meaning.
