“The Routes of the Olive Tree” in Cyprus: Field Research for the Creation of a New Cultural Route

The “Routes of the Olive Tree” Organization is pleased to announce the commencement of work on the creation of a new cultural route in Cyprus. As part of this significant initiative, a recent field study was conducted by Organization representatives to identify and document points of cultural, historical, and natural interest that will form the core of the route.

This initiative is being implemented with the valuable collaboration of the Tourism Development & Promotion Company of the Pafos Region, a member of the “Routes of the Olive Tree” network in Cyprus. Their contribution has been instrumental in organizing the field research, connecting with local stakeholders and communities, and facilitating access to key cultural sites in the region.

During the research, Organization representatives visited areas of significant cultural and historical importance, engaged in discussions with local stakeholders, and gathered valuable insights. The goal is to design an authentic cultural experience that links Cyprus’ rich cultural heritage with the present, highlighting the timeless value of the olive tree as a symbol of culture, tradition, and sustainability.

This new cultural route is part of the broader actions of the “Routes of the Olive Tree” Organization, which aims to promote cultural and tourism development through the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. The successful completion of the field study paves the way for the next phase of the project, which includes route mapping, documentation of points of interest, the awarding of the title “Point of Interest of the Cultural Route – Routes of the Olive Tree of the Council of Europe”, and the official presentation of the route to the public.

With this initiative, the “Routes of the Olive Tree” strengthens Cyprus’ international recognition as a cultural tourism destination, offering visitors a unique journey through time, nature, and tradition.
