Events for the World Olive Day in Kalamata

The “Routes of the Olive Tree” in cooperation with the Kalamata Centre for Education for the Environment and Sustainability (KEPEA) and the Kalamata Music School, celebrate the World Olive Day (26 November) and organize an in-person open event at the Kalamata Music School about healthy snacks at school and the promotion of the use of olives and olive oil.

The title of the event is “GALA-Brunch- The importance of the school snack for the health of students and its preparation”. GALA-Brunch is addressed to students of the 4th, 5th and 6th grades of Kalamata Primary Schools with their parents/guardians and to teachers of Primary and Secondary Education of Messinia, with the participation being free of charge.

The main purpose of the event is the inclusion in the students’ daily school snack of materials based on healthy nutrition and the promotion of Kalamata as a gastronomic destination with the edible PDO Kalamata Olive.

For this reason, 3 parallel actions will be carried out:
1. Restaurant called “GALA-Brunch” for students (D’-E’-F’ Primary School) on Saturday 26 November (10am – 1.30pm) at the Atrium of the Music School of Kalamata.
2. Workshop entitled “The importance of the school snack for the health of students and its preparation”, on Saturday 26 November (10.30am-1.30pm) at the Auditorium of the Music School of Kalamata, for parents/guardians and teachers
3. “Oiled bread (kapsales) at the olive-mills”, try fresh bread dipped in first-oil at olive-mills, for Schoolchildren on Saturday 26 November (2pm – 4pm)

In the framework of the event, the awards and prizes of the Student Contest 2022 will be awarded on the theme: “Kalamata Gastronomic Destination with pilot the Kalamata Olive: is it possible? ”
